A public forum has been scheduled for November 1st at 7PM in the Reading Public Library to discuss the potential of a new senior/community center at the former Walgreens location. Town staff is expected to answer a full slate of questions from the general public before the vote goes to 192 Town Meeting members as early as November 14th.
It’s worth noting that the Select Board has an agenda item set for their October 11th meeting pertaining to the former Walgreens property:
Consider and potentially act on response from owner of 17 Harnden Street (BH Waltham II LLC) to Request for Proposals to Purchase Real Property for Municipal Use, including an Executive Session (Purpose 6) to discuss the acquisition and value of 17 Harnden Street
8:10PM Select Board 10/11/22 agenda item
Previously, the Reading Center for Active Living Committee (RECALC), supported the acquisition of the Walgreens property while the Council on Aging required a list of concerns to be addressed prior to making a full commitment.
