Whether it was the perfect fall weather or residents wanting to forget all the trash issues from prior weeks, Reading’s first Oktoberfest was this past Saturday on the Town Common. Branded “Skatoberfest” after the genre of music called Ska, it featured multiple bands, food vendors and even a 5K prior to the event. If you missed the two prior beer gardens on the common this year, then this one was the one to have been at. By the sheer volume of people alone, the final beer garden of 2022 was a resounding success. At times, it was rivaling the numbers of the Fall Street Faire in one area alone.
We managed to speak to some of the vendors at the event, some of whom also attended the prior two, and even they were in shock at the number of attendees. They even had to go back and forth to their actual businesses, multiple times, to restock their food and drink supplies to keep up with the demand.
We will of course have our drone montage out in the coming days but until then, please enjoy some photographs from the event. It’s safe to say though, it won’t be Reading’s last.
