With the rain starting to fall, just as the earlier 5PM kickoff was about to begin, the game would not end like the previous 9 had. The Shamrock’s won the coin toss and did not stop from there. The Rockets came out and failed to score on their opening possession and ultimately went into halftime down 20-0.
The second half would not fair better for the Rockets as the Shamrock’s would score on their opening possession of the 3rd quarter and go up 27-0. I don’t recall the Shamrock’s throwing a single pass the entire game and the only touchdown Reading would ultimately score would be on a 16 yard rushing touchdown of their own by Quarterback James Murphy for a final score of 48-6.
The Rockets put up an impressive undefeated regular season though at 8-0 and should be commended for their efforts. The same goes for their fans, who stayed throughout their final playoff game in the rain and remained classy until the final whistle.
This is not the end of the line though for the Reading Rockets. While their playoffs hopes may have ended, they have a final game at home on Thanksgiving vs the Stoneham Spartans (7-1), at 10:15AM on Thursday, November 24th.
