It all started with missing the $2.2 billion dollar Powerball drawing by accident and ended with a local Facebook post Thursday morning for the five couples that won $100k.
Lori McKenna Gorski was in charge of purchasing the groups Powerball tickets and did so successfully during the previous billion dollar drawings. Unfortunately or fortunately for the group, the $2.2 billion dollar drawing they pooled their money for, was missed because Lori had accidentally lost track of the days. She missed the big drawing, that someone in California had won, so she used the money towards purchasing the next round of tickets and the rest is history.
You can check out the video below for the complete story, what they plan on doing with the money, how much is actually going towards the state and taxes and how does it work when a pooled group of winners win? Not mentioned in the video though is plans to donate to the Reading Food Pantry and store owner, Dan Dewar, receiving 1% of the prize from the state for a quick $1,000 pay day.
Congratulations to Lori McKenna Gorski, Chip Sterling, Joe Miller, Meridith Miller, Carmine Mazzarella, Stacy Mazzarella, Kathy Donnelly, Matt Donnelly, Lynne Ventura, and Mark Ventura!
