On Monday night, artist Rob Surette stopped by Town Hall to deliver his latest portrait that will adorn the walls in the Select Board meeting room. Rob has been an artist for 29+ years and his paintings are hanging in rooms all over the globe. Of course, that includes Reading with his portraits already hanging in Town Hall as well as the schools. You can read more about this history of them from our previous article here.
The Ruth Bader Ginsburg portrait took him over 6 months to paint in his hyper-realistic format, where he uses a brush the size of a needle and spends hours working on every single eyelash with a magnifying glass. It’s a labor of love for Rob and he mentioned that he is so very grateful to be doing this for a living, it’s his life’s work.
