The Killam School Building Committee (KSBC) met this past Wednesday, June 21, 2023. TERVA, the first ranked firm in the Owner’s Project Manager (OPM) process, withdrew. They received letters of complaint from two companies, Left Field, who was ranked 5th out of 6 applicants and Vertex, who did not participate in the process. The concerns were around how TERVA represented their work experience. TERVA and the Town Manager, separately, were in contact with the MSBA. TERVA graciously decided to withdraw from the process which allowed the KSBC to continue without delay. They mentioned that they do not think that TERVA had any mal intent with how they listed their work experience and some on the committee verbalized that they knew full-well of the level of experience TERVA had as a company but ranked them based on the merits of the presented project team. TERVA is a firm who is relatively new to the MSBA process with a highly qualified team who have been on MSBA projects with other firms but TERVA as a company does not have a vast amount of experience with MSBA projects.
The committee moved to the second ranked firm, Colliers Project Managers, and directed the Town Manager to enter into negotiations with them. The committee’s recommendation will be submitted to the MSBA on Friday June 23, 2023. This will allow them to get on the MSBA OPM review panel meeting agenda which will take place on July 10, 2023.
