With all of the changes going on in Reading over the years, it’s prudent to keep a record of how our landscape and buildings currently look. The Reading Public Library is our first location, in a series of videos, showcasing the exterior of Reading landmarks via a drone. Seeing things from a completely different angle makes you realize how massive of a building the library truly is. Also in the recording below, you’ll be able to see a partially completed water tower off in the distance (3:13 mark) as well as a plethora of trees completely blanketing Reading and everywhere else for that matter.
A brief history on the library shows it was built in 1896-1897 as a school, converted to a library in 1984 and completed a ~$14.5 million dollar renovation in 2016.
We have plans to cover additional places in Reading over the coming months as well as construction update videos on various ongoing projects around town. Not having the before footage of these locations is the exact reason for this series.
