The Killam School Building Committee met this past Monday, August 21, 2023 at 7pm.
There was an Owner’s Project Manager (OPM) kick off meeting on Wednesday, August 9th. The OPM was provided with information to help them better tailor the Designer Request for Services document.
There was a correction made to the role of the Designer Selection Committee that was voted on at the last meeting. There are specific requirements required by the MSBA with this process. There are 16 total members on the Designer Selection Panel – 13 members from the MSBA and 3 members from the District. The MSBA recommends the Town Manager, Superintendent and a representative from the School Building Committee. Fidel Maltez, Dr. Thomas Milaschewski and Carla Nazzaro will attend and represent the District. The Designer Selection Panel will interview short-listed firms, discuss and vote on the designer.
The Designer Selection Schedule is as follows:
- RFS due to MSBA: August 30, 2023
- Ad placed in “Designer Services” section of Central Register: September 7, 2023
- Ad appears in Central Register: September 13, 2023
- Applications due to District: October 11, 2023
- Applications due to the MSBA: October 19, 2023
- DSP Applications Review: November 7, 2023
Colliers presented and the committee reviewed a draft of the Designer Request for Services. The template for this document comes from the MSBA and there are sections which are tailored specifically for our District. The committee may provide additional comments to be incorporated into the document prior to its submission to the MSBA.
