In their final regular season home game this season, the Reading Rockets would find themselves in a familiar 7-0 hole early in the first quarter. After that though, nothing would be like their previous 4 games as Reading would answer with a touchdown drive of their own by running back Andrew Jackavony to knot the game 7-7. Reading would make a big 4th and 6 stop of Arlington as time expired in the first.
On the very first play of the 2nd quarter, Rockets running back DโVon Burcy would score a rushing touchdown and then would follow that up with another on a 4th and 1 conversion for a 20-7 Rockets lead at halftime.
The 3rd quarter would be no different for the Rockets as Jake Palm would kick a field goal for a 23-7 lead followed up by another rushing touchdown by DโVon Burcy, his third of the game, for a score of 29-7. Arlington would not go away quietly though as a quick 60 yard touchdown pass, reduced Readings lead to 29-14 with under 5 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. Reading would counter though with another rushing touchdown by Andrew Jackavony for a 35-14 lead. Arlington would add another passing touchdown with under 2 minutes to go in the game but it was not enough as Reading would get their first win of the season 35-20.
One notable takeaway after the game, the Rockets are 1-4 on the season but they are now 1-1 in the Middlesex Division, so playoff chances are still in the realm of possibility. Their next three games are against league opponents.
The Rockets will play an away game on Thursday, October 12th at 6:30 vs the (4-1) Winchester Red & Black.
