In their final home game of the 2023 season, the Reading Rockets on Friday night, would rack up 42 unanswered points until the very final play of the game. D’Von Burcy would start the scoring off with a 1 yard touchdown run in the 1st quarter and quarterback Jack Murphy would follow that up with a rushing touchdown of his own with under 4min remaining in the second. D’Von Burcy was not done though and scrambled for another rushing touchdown to give the Rockets a 21-0 lead at halftime.
The Rockets would come out firing in the 3rd quarter with three big touchdowns, starting off with D’Von Burcy and a 45 yard rushing touchdown on the second play of the quarter. Jack Murphy would then throw a 50 yard touchdown pass to D’Von Burcy and Austin McCloskey would run another short one in for a 42-0 Rockets lead at the end of the 3rd.
The 4th quarter was pretty uneventful for either team other than Masconomet Regional scoring on the final play of the game for a 42-6 Rockets win! The Rockets will play their final game on Thanksgiving, which is an away game this year, on November 23rd at 10:15AM vs the (6-4) Stoneham Spartans.
