Last night, Reading Select Board member Carlo Bacci’s car caught fire while his youngest daughter was alone driving on 128 in Peabody. The fire caused 128 Northbound to be shutdown. His daughter was not injured. The main reason for this post is to alert the public of the recall on the Honda and Acura models listed below. According to Carlo Bacci, he never received the notice that was set to go out on January 2nd according to the news article.
The following is the public post made earlier today on Facebook:
Last night was the scariest of my life. In a matter of minutes, our almost 17 year old called me to say our Honda Pilot was making a funny noise and then another call to say the car was on fire. She is OK, thank God. She had the composure and maturity to pull over on the highway by the North Shore Mall and shut the car off. She was alone and scared. She called me hysterical to say the car was on fire and my heart dropped. Thank God she stepped away from the vehicle when she saw some smoke coming from the engine and called 911. I was on my way from home and called 911 as well. Within seconds there were sparks under the engine and the car burst into flames. 2 vehicles pulled over to make sure she was okay before state and local police showed up. I got there and took her home safe and sound. I want to thank all the first responders that were on scene that tried to calm her down.
