The Reading School Committee (SC) of Reading Public Schools (RPS) is meeting on Thursday January 25 2024. The meeting is being at the Reading Memorial High School (RMHS) library and will be broadcast by RCTV and will be accessible via zoom. This meeting starts at 7pm. The packet is 96 pages long with the bulk being the full proposed FY25 budget which is up for a final vote.
The meeting will begin with a “Focus on Excellence” honoring the 2023 State Champion RMHS Marching Band.
After the usual reports and minutes approvals, there will be a discussion and vote to approve placement of donated rock and plaque below the lacrosse scoreboard and discussion and vote to approve a new transportation contract (the latter being found on p. 14 of the packet) For most categories, it appears bus costs are going up around 12-13%. Charges for bus monitors and late buses appear to be decreasing by around 25-30%.
The meeting will include with the final discussion and approval of the FY25 school budget, followed by a planned executive session relating to collective bargaining agreements with the paraeducators union and the cafeteria workers union.
