1PM edit: The library and Town Hall have both been cleared. The library has re-opened as of 1pm and Town Hall remains closed until they re-open on Monday.
READING – Police Chief David Clark and Fire Chief Gregory Burns report that the Reading Police and Fire Departments are actively investigating a bomb threat at Reading Public Library and Reading Town Hall.
On Saturday, March 23 at approximately 9:46 a.m. Reading Police and Fire were notified of a bomb threat made at Reading Public Library, 64 Middlesex Ave and Reading Town Hall, 16 Lowell St.
The threat was made via email directly to the library.
Reading Police and Fire immediately responded to both locations. Reading Public Library was immediately evacuated. Reading Town Hall is closed during the weekends.
State Police bomb squad was called in to respond.
Reading Police and Fire are asking residents and community members to avoid the area at this time.
