Dear Reading Residents,
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone, especially the residents who took the time to come to the polls and cast their votes. I am immensely proud of the campaign we ran. The past few months have been an incredible journey, filled with memorable moments. I am grateful for the opportunity to meet so many new residents. And I can’t wait to meet many more.
I want to thank Tara Gregory for your willingness to step up and run again. I appreciate your desire to serve the residents of Reading. While the outcome may have differed from what you hoped for, your efforts have been noticed. I wish you all the best.
I am incredibly grateful for the support of my campaign team. Your hard work was instrumental in our success! Your encouragement, advice, and help were invaluable in getting our message out. You helped me remain committed to the issues and ideas I believed in, even when some residents chose to go negative. I am indebted to all the residents who donated to my campaign, hosted signs, delivered door hangers, held signs on the common (even in the rain), wrote LTEs in support of me, and volunteered in any capacity to assist with the campaign. The work you all put in showed in the voter turnout yesterday.
I want to thank all town staff, town election staff, and Laura Gemme for their hard work on this special election. Their commitment ensured a well-run election.
I am so excited and honored to be your newest Select Board member. I want to emphasize my unwavering commitment, enthusiasm, and excitement about serving our entire community—whether they voted for me or not. I am here to listen, learn, and work tirelessly for the betterment of our town. Thank you again for all of your support.
With warm regards,
Melissa Murphy
