The Select Board will be meeting tonight at 7:00pm in the Select Board room at Town Hall. This will be the first full board meeting with 5 members since February 7th with recently elected board member Melissa Murphy joining them.
The first item on the agenda is the Eagle Scouts Certificate of Recognition. The following are the 3 Eagle Scouts and their respective projects that lead to their recognition:
- Charles Mace – In recognition of his achieving the Eagle Scout Award for his service project of designing and building a bridge at Bear Meadow Conservation Area.
- Nicholas Belous – In recognition of his achieving the Eagle Scout Award for his service project of designing and building Little Libraries all around the city of Lynn.
- Jeffrey Lonks – In recognition of his achieving the Eagle Scout Award for his service project of designing and building a bridge in the Reading Town Forest.
Afterwards, the board will Interview and Appoint Resident Member to Community Preservation Act (CPA) Study Committee. As noted in the packet – “The Community Preservation Act Ad Hoc Committee is comprised of 7 voting members, and one non-voting member, to be appointed by the Select Board, and is charged with facilitating communications with community leaders, Town Administration, Town Meeting Members, the Select Board, local community groups, and the statewide Community Preservation Coalition, to share information regarding the opportunities and challenges when adopting the Community Preservation Act (CPA)”. At their last meeting, the Select Board appointed Carlo Bacci as their member.
The residential applicants are:
- Elinor Actipis – a 1 year Reading resident and content strategist
- Sanford Matathia – a 44 year Reading resident and retired lawyer
- Robert Weiden – a 19 year Reading resident and customer service manager
Lastly, the board will have an update on the Killam Building Project by the Owners Project Manager, Colliers Project Leaders and the Designers, Lavallee|Brensinger architects. It’s anticipated, if approved by the voters on a subsequent ballot, a Fall 2028 move-in date for the new Killam School.
