READING β Chief David Clark reports that the Reading Police Department charged a Braintree man with operating under the influence.
On Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1:09 a.m., Reading Police were dispatched to the area of Main Street for a report of a man who appeared to be asleep in a vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the road.
Upon arrival, officers located a black 2020 Toyota Rav4 stopped in the middle of the road. The driver was identified as a 22-YEAR-OLD MALE from BRAINTREE, who appeared to be asleep, and the car was still in drive.
Officers were able to wake up the 22-YEAR-OLD MALE and put the car safely in park.
Officers also observed front-end damage to the vehicle, which appeared to be consistent with a minor crash.
The 22-YEAR-OLD MALE was evaluated on scene by Reading Fire as a precaution, and transported to an area hospital for further evaluation due to him being asleep and unconscious on arrival.
A preliminary investigation, including a field sobriety test, determined that the 22-YEAR-OLD MALE was operating under the influence. The 22-YEAR-OLD MALE blood alcohol level was .155, almost twice the legal limit.
The 22-YEAR-OLD MALE of BRAINTREE is being summonsed to Woburn District Court and charged with the following:
- Operating Under the Influence – Liquor
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
