READING — Chief David Clark reports that the Reading Police Department arrested and charged a Woburn man with operating under the influence.
ARUN RAVINDRAN, AGE 45, of WOBURN, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Operating Under the Influence of Liquor
- Operating to Endanger
- Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle
- Speed
- Unlicensed Operation of Motor Vehicle
On Thursday, Jan. 9 at about 9:28 p.m., A Reading Police Officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Charles Street when he observed an Audi Q5 traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer determined that the driver was traveling 55 miles per hour (MPH) in a posted 30 MPH zone.
The officer activated his emergency lights and conducted a motor vehicle stop of the Audi.
A preliminary investigation determined that the driver, identified as RAVINDRAN, was operating under the influence. RAVINDRAN’s blood alcohol level was .145, nearly twice the legal limit.
RAVINDRAN was arrested without incident.
During a subsequent investigation and search of RAVIDRAN’s vehicle, officers located an open bottle of whiskey.
RAVINDRAN is scheduled to be arraigned in Woburn District Court on Friday.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
