Today’s the day! Sunday, April 7th from 10:30am – 3pm is the 2nd Annual Community Pickleball Day indoors at Reading Memorial High School Hawkes Field House. Recreational & competitive play by level, beginner & advanced beginner clinics, intro to pickleball for beginners. While all registration slots are now full, there are still ways to contribute outlined below:
The Field House lobby will open at 10:15 for check-in
· Please check-in in the lobby of the Field House and get your name tag before entering the Field House to play. If you’ve ordered a T-Shirt, or requested a paddle for a clinic, you’ll be given it at check-in.
· Whirlaway Sports Center, a retail store in Methuen that carries a large selection of Pickleball gear and equipment, will be in the field house from 10:15-2:00 with a variety of pickleball paddles to demo during the sessions and other items for sale. Be sure to check them out! Sales will be cash only. Bring a license if you’d like to demo a paddle. Attached Is a flyer (below) from Whirlaway with the specials they will be offering at our event only.
· If you’re interested in trying a Six Zero paddle, Tina Lech will have some for you to demo. She’ll have the Six Zero Double Black Diamond, the Six Zero 100% Kelvar Ruby and others. Bring a license to get a demo paddle.
· Do you need a new over grip and edge guard tape? They will be available in many colors and Tina will put them on your paddle for you for $10. Have you wanted to try adding weight to your paddle but have been afraid to do it on your own? Tina can help you customize your paddle between games and you can try it out right away. Weighted Tape plus Edge Guard Tape: $20-$25. She’ll also have some of the new Hescore grips for you to try. All proceeds will go to RPPA. Cash only. Thank you, Tina!
· Del Sur, a local Reading store, will have a pop-up store in the lobby. They’ll be selling 5 flavors of their delicious empanadas, along with a variety of dipping sauces.
· Reading’s Caffe Nero will be serving their delicious coffee and cold brew in the lobby.
· There will be prizes given away every 10 minutes during the Open Play sessions and clinics to people who are enrolled. Be sure to check the Prize Board to see if you are a winner!
· RPPA Pickleball t-shirts will be on sale in the lobby. All proceeds will be donated to RPPA. Thank you, Nancy Puleo!
· Visit our Selfie Station to memorialize the day!
· Enter our 50/50 raffle to help support dedicated courts in Reading and have a chance to win $$$. Tickets are cash only, 2 tickets for $10, 5 tickets for $20. Winning ticket will be drawn at 2:45. Need not be present to win.
· There will be a viewing area upstairs for you and your friends to watch games.
· Have fun and meet others from our Pickleball Community!
Proceeds will go towards advancing pickleball in Reading, MA through Reading Pickleball Players Association, a 501(c)(3) non profit.
