The Select Board will be meeting this evening at 7:00pm in the Select Board meeting room at Town Hall and remotely on Zoom. The first item on the agenda after public comment and the Town Manager’s report is an update from the Permanent Building Committee and discussion/potential vote on Center for Active Living site selection. As noted in the packet on page 11, RECALC (Reading Center for Active Living Committee), The COA (Council on Aging), the PBC (Permanent Building Committee), BH+A (the architects and engineers) and TTH (Turner & Townsend Heery, the OPM) all unanimously voted that Symonds Way is the preferred site location.
Afterwards, the board will then vote on the various Volunteer Appointment Subcommittee Appointments. As noted inside the memo in the packet, after meeting with various applicants, the VASC recommends the following appointments:
- Jean-Paul Plouffe (current associate) to a full position on the Board of Assessors with a term
expiring June 30, 2026 - Tim Michel to an associate position on the Conservation Commission with a term expiring
June 30, 2026 - Ashley Gross to a full position on the Cultural Council with a term expiring June 30, 2027
and to an associate position on the Trails Committee with a term expiring June 30, 2026 - John Federico to an associate position on the Recreation Committee with a term expiring
June 30, 2025 - Brandy Hopkins to a full position on the Town Forest Committee with a term expiring June
30, 2027 and to an associate position on the Trails Committee with a term expiring June 30,
2026 - Frank Capone (current associate) to a full position on the Zoning Board of Appeals with a
term beginning January 1st, 2025 and expiring June 30, 2025

Lastly, the board will Discuss and Vote on the Health Department ARPA Funds request. According to the Director of Public Health, Ade Solarin, he is modifying his request to $21,359.91 for rodent mitigation. Ade received a presentation from the owner of North Shore Wildlife on how their company can provide and implement a safe and humane rodent control program for the Town of Reading.
