Earlier today, resident Alicia Williams representing a group in town called One Reading and Jeanne Borawski from the Reading Rotary surprised Reading’s DPW with EJ’s pizza, donuts and drinks for all of their hard work in dealing with the trash situation the town has been facing. Paul Burton, from WBZ Channel 4 News happened to be there as well filming a segment for a story on the current status of it in Reading and was waiting for an interview with town manager, Fidel Maltez.
Christopher Haley, from the Reading Select Board was also in attendance and posted an update story to Facebook:
Thank you Jeanne Borawski, John B. Douglass II, the Reading Rotary, Alicia Williams, & One Reading for delivering EJ’s pizza and donuts to the Reading DPW today. I’m so happy I could be a part of two random groups in town having the same idea to give back at the same time. We’ll see if myself and Jeanne’s story airs as none of us had a clue that the news was going to be there. We were just there to acknowledge their hard work. Feel good stories are what we need more of in this world. This is Reading, this is who we are.

The Town of Reading has been dealing with trash and recycling delays for the past 3 weeks, have issued numerous statements and reverse 911 calls on the matter and eventually Fidel Maltez and the DPW had to come in to rectify the situation.
